The Cisco Catalyst 2950T-48-SI and 2950SX-48-SI switches are
cost-effective, standalone Layer 2 managed switches. They join the Cisco
Catalyst 2950SX-24, Cisco Catalyst 2950-24, and Cisco Catalyst 2950-12
switches as part of the Cisco Catalyst 2950 Series product line with
Standard Image (SI) software. The dual integrated 10/100/1000BASE-T and
1000BASE-SX ports on the þCatalyst 2950T-48-SI and the Catalyst
2950SX-48-SI provide redundancy and þhigher availability, as well as a
cost-effective means for cascading switches and managing them as a
cluster. No Gigabit Interface Converters (GBICs) are required. These
switches are extremely easy to install with þExpress Setup and manage
with Cisco Cluster Management Suite (CMS) Software, an embedded
Web-based management tool that allows users to configure and
troubleshoot up to 16 Catalyst desktop switches using aþsingle IP
address.

The Cisco Catalyst 2950SX-48-SI and 2950T-48-SI switches are ideal for
education, state and local governments, and commercial customers that
want basic connectivity and require more than 24 ports. For stacking and
intelligent services, the Cisco Catalyst 3750 Series Switch, the
Cisco Catalyst 3550 Series Switch, and the Cisco Catalyst 2950 Series
switches with Enhanced Image software offer more advanced security,
quality of service (QoS), scalability, and availability functions. The
Catalyst 2950SX-48-SI, 2950T-48-SI, 2950SX-24, 2950-24, and 2950-12
switches cannot be upgraded to the Enhanced Image (EI) software.
Customers that require 48 ports and the intelligent Ethernet services
offered by the Cisco Catalyst 2950T-24 Switch (with Enhanced Image) can
buy two Cisco Catalyst 2950T-24 switches or the Cisco Catalyst 2950G-48
Switch.
The Cisco Catalyst 2950T-48-SI and Cisco Catalyst 2950SX-48-SI switches
are Layer 2 switches aggressively priced to compete against 3Com, HP,
and Dell products. Ordering information for these two new Cisco Catalyst
2950 switches follows.
